The Colin Cameron Gallery

Sadly, Sweet Dreams sweet shop has now closed, July 2023. Unfortunately this means that the Colin Cameron Gallery currently has no physical base. The Colin Cameron Gallery, housed within Sweet Dreams sweet shop, was opened by Whitley Bay Stuckist Paul Harvey in September 2022.

In a collaboration between Colin Cameron and Sweet Dreams, a Whitley Bay confectionary has been transformed into a gallery featuring a symposium of characters including Geordie singer Sam Fender and Queen Elizabeth II, simultaneously captured in the act of extracting mucus from inside their nasal passage.

Sweet Dreams perfectly complements Cameron’s work: an unlikely gallery wherein domesticity and absurdity coalesce. Its setting within Whitley Bay emphasises certain regional elements of these compositions – many of which are set within terraced housing, evocative of the sixties and seventies.
